The first Earth Day was a nationwide environmental teach-in held on April 22, 1970 with an estimated 20 million participants across the country. It has grown each year since. This year, activities will be held in over 190 countries with over a Billion participants.
Earth Day Lubbock started in 2020 with plans for an event that year. We were shut down by covid, but we are finally getting our first big event. We will join with the City of Lubbock’s Storm Drain Mural Project for the 2022 Earth Day on Broadway event, April 22nd at 6 to 9 pm.
Earth Day Lubbock is an entirely volunteer, nonprofit organization. Donations are tax deductible and gratefully accepted.
Who We Are
Earth Day Lubbock will educate the public on science topics and promote a common sense of appreciation of our natural environment and our common interest in its protection.
What We Do
Earth Day Lubbock wants to bring different parts of our community together to learn about and celebrate our earth through a major yearly event, on or near April 22nd, and smaller events throughout the year. We want to give experiences to the community that will build knowledge and understanding of our environment through events and activities.
